What Is Steel in Last Z?

Steel is a late-game resource that becomes one of the main progression bottlenecks after HQ30. If you are searching for how steel works, the key point is simple: it is not part of early progression, but it becomes critical once HQ31-35 and late-game research open up.

Steel is easy to confuse with the Steel Factory faction building. The Steel Factory is a Guard of Order building that boosts hero stats, while steel resource is a material you spend on HQ upgrades and late-game research.

When Steel Unlocks

Players usually search for steel because it seems to appear suddenly. In practice, steel becomes relevant once HQ31-35 is active on your server and your account starts moving past the normal HQ30 economy.

Best Steel Sources in Priority Order

Not all steel sources are equal. Tyrant is the main weekly source for most accounts, while bounties, steel nodes, and other smaller sources help smooth daily progress between Tyrant cycles.

2. Orange bounty missions — best steel per bounty in late game.
3. Steel Mine in your town — a steady daily trickle.
4. Events & rewards — seasonal events and special updates often boost steel income.

Tyrant: The Steel Engine

If you only optimize one steel source, optimize Tyrant. For most players it is the single biggest repeatable steel injection in the game, which is why missing Tyrant regularly slows HQ31-35 progression so hard.

Tyrant events run frequently and are the single biggest steel injection for most alliances. If you can’t join live, enable Engage Offline in the Event Center to auto-join rallies while you’re away.

• Tyrant runs on a short schedule window and rewards scale with alliance damage.
• Alliance leaders (R4/R5) can set the start time for the event.
• Because it repeats often, missing Tyrant is the fastest way to fall behind on steel.

Steel Factory vs Steel Resource

This is one of the most common steel-related confusions in Last Z. Steel Factory is a faction building tied to Guard of Order bonuses, while steel resource is a late-game material used for progression costs.

The Steel Factory is a Guard of Order faction building unlocked at HQ14. It increases Guard of Order hero attack, defense, and troop capacity via its upgrades. It does not produce steel resource.

If you are upgrading faction buildings for Hall of Honor bonuses, Steel Factory level 20 unlocks the Guard of Order Hall of Honor buffs.

Common Steel Mistakes

• Skipping Tyrant — steel income drops sharply without it.
• Ignoring orange bounties — they scale better than lower-tier bounties.
• Not gathering steel nodes — a free daily source that adds up.
• Confusing Steel Factory with steel resource — the building is a faction buff, not a producer.
