Understanding counters is the foundation of formation building:

For new players, focus on Wings of Dawn. Blood Rose heroes become available earlier, so most inexperienced players build around them. Wings of Dawn counters Blood Rose, giving you an advantage against those teams when development is otherwise comparable. Concentrate your main combat investment on one faction; switching later is expensive.

Already have a developed Blood Rose or Guard of Order team? Keep building it rather than replacing it with underdeveloped Wings of Dawn heroes solely for the counter advantage.

Best Formation Builds

Five heroes of one faction

Use this as a comparison point when you already have a developed faction team. Five matching heroes can activate formation bonuses and hero talents that require a full faction lineup. Check both before removing a hero; these benefits are not limited to displayed power or to paying players.

A 3+2 team with seasonal pairs

A mixed team is worth testing when it preserves a useful pair or adds a developed hero whose contribution outweighs lost faction bonuses. Three heroes plus two heroes does not automatically activate a seasonal synergy.

For Wings of Dawn and Blood Rose combinations, check Alma + Liliana and Bella + Licia. The S3 partner’s talent and five-star extension matter when your plan depends on applying its benefit across troop types. Compare the mixed lineup with your developed faction team before investing in the change.

Choosing the fifth hero

Compare the available hero’s stars, active skills, equipment, troop match, and effect on existing pair and faction talents. A faction label alone does not make an underdeveloped hero the better choice.

Hero Selection Priority

Choose a hero for the effects they add to the actual formation:

1. Keep the named partners needed for your seasonal talents.
2. Check whether each bonus affects the hero, matching troops, the faction, or all troop types.
3. Check deployment separately: “all troops” does not by itself mean the hero can stay outside the lineup.
4. Keep account-development skills separate from combat-slot selection. A useful construction or research skill does not require that hero to occupy a combat slot.

• Breaking a seasonal pair without checking the lost talent.
• Treating a faction counter as a guaranteed win.
• Switching to an underdeveloped hero solely to complete a 3+2 pattern.
• Counting a troop-type bonus that does not affect the troops you send.
• Comparing power or battle results across different buffs, equipment, or troop tiers.

How to Build Your Formation

1. Start with your developed combat heroes and matching troops.
2. Identify active pair talents and five-faction requirements.
3. Check the role and position of each hero.
4. Change one lineup choice at a time where practical.
5. Compare results in the mode you want to improve.

• Check the current star effect; do not count a five-star extension before unlocking it.
• Check deployment requirements independently of troop scope.

• Blood Rose players → Train Assaulters first, research Assaulter tech
• Wings of Dawn players → Train Shooters first, research Shooter tech
• Guard of Order players → Train Riders first, research Rider tech
