The Truth About Heroes

If you are looking for the best heroes in Last Z, the fastest way to improve your account is not upgrading everyone. Start with your strongest orange combat heroes, match troops to faction, and build one reliable formation before spending on weaker side options.

"The strongest hero in Last Z is your wallet." New heroes arrive via Battle Pass, requiring real money to unlock immediately.

However, F2P can still progress:

• All heroes become available within 90 days of gameplay
• Season heroes: Wait for season to end, then use Season Recruitment Tickets
• Exclusive equipment: Usually free at the START of the next season (not immediately)
• Smart hero selection and team composition can compete with spenders

Hero Tiers Explained

• Orange heroes — Strongest, priority for resources
• Purple heroes — Good alternatives if no orange heroes
• Blue heroes — Support only (training, gathering), NOT for battle

Key insight: Even orange heroes without combat-focused 3rd skills are worth using because their 1st/2nd/4th skills deal 50%+ more damage than purple heroes.

Current Meta (2026)

The strongest faction in Last Z depends on the current meta, but for most players Wings of Dawn is the safest recommendation because it performs well into the most common Blood Rose teams. Blood Rose remains very strong, while Guard of Order is more niche and matchup-dependent.

2nd:	Blood Rose — Strong heroes, ~70% of players
3rd:	Guard of Order — Can only beat Wings of Dawn easily

Faction Bonuses

• 3+ heroes same faction: Faction bonus activates
• 5 heroes same faction: Maximum bonus (+10% troop HP typical)

Positioning Rules

• Front row (2 heroes): Defense heroes with HP/defense buffs
• Back row (3 heroes): DPS heroes with attack/damage buffs

How to identify:

• Check hero tag: "Hero excels in strong defense" → Front row
• Check hero tag: "Hero is good for DPS" → Back row
• Check 3rd skill: HP/defense buffs → Front row
• Check 3rd skill: Attack/damage buffs → Back row

Why This Matters

Example scenario:

• Team A: Defense heroes front, DPS back (correct)
• Team B: DPS heroes front, defense back (wrong)

Result: Team A wins. Their defense heroes absorb damage longer, while their DPS heroes keep dealing damage. Team B's DPS heroes die quickly because they can't absorb damage.

Skill Structure (All Heroes)

• 1st Skill: Normal Attack Boost — damage factor increase (similar across all heroes)
• 2nd Skill: Active Skill — combat ability (similar damage factors, different animations)
• 3rd Skill: Faction/Troop Buff — THIS IS THE DIFFERENTIATOR
• 4th Skill: Faction Synergy — bonus when using same faction heroes

Key insight: 1st and 2nd skills are nearly identical across all orange heroes (1500 damage factor, 2400 active skill). The real difference is the 3rd skill.

3rd Skill Types

• Combat buffs: Troop attack, defense, HP — BEST for battle
• Support buffs: Construction speed, training speed, research — NOT for battle priority
• Utility buffs: Exploration EXP, gathering speed — Situational

Priority: Heroes with combat-focused 3rd skills > Support 3rd skills

Exclusive Equipment

Season 1 heroes have exclusive equipment that:

• Enhances 2nd skill damage significantly (+450-600 damage factor)
• Adds attack, defense, and troop HP stats
• Requires hero at 2-star to equip
• Makes S1 heroes stronger than base S2 heroes

F2P: Exclusive equipment becomes free at the START of the next season.

Hexagon Upgrade Order

1. Get ALL 5 main heroes to orange equipment first (Merit Shop weekly)
2. Enhance ALL equipment to level 20 (unlocks promotion)
3. Promote ALL equipment to 1-star (first hexagon step = 100 cores + 1M zent each)
4. Complete hexagon 1 on ALL equipment
5. Continue hexagon by hexagon evenly — stop at hexagon 4 (skip hexagon 5)

Why skip hexagon 5? It costs 12,800 Power Cores (50% of total) for only 20% more stats. Terrible efficiency.

Where to Get Orange Equipment

• Merit Shop: 1 orange equipment choice box per week — buy EVERY week until all 20 pieces
• Arena Shop: Orange equipment boxes
• Exploration: Orange equipment at higher stages
• Bullseye Event: Random chance for orange equipment

• Skill Priority: 3rd Skill (Assaulter Attack) → 2nd Skill → 1st Skill
• Gear Focus: Attack % → Damage % → Troop HP
• Why S+: Massive damage output, essential for Season 4 meta

Selena (S1, Blood Rose) — S Tier DPS

• Role: Back row DPS
• Skill Priority: 3rd Skill (Assaulter Attack +15%) → 2nd Skill → 4th Skill
• Gear Focus: Attack % → Damage % → HP
• Exclusive Equipment: Yes — boosts 2nd skill by +600 damage factor
• Why S: Best S1 hero, exclusive gear makes her competitive with S2 heroes

Licia (S3, Blood Rose) — S+ Tier Support/DPS

• Role: Back row, hybrid
• Skill Priority: 3rd Skill (Damage Resistance + Troop Capacity) → 4th Skill → 2nd Skill
• Gear Focus: HP % → Defense % → Attack %
• Why S+: +7.5% troop capacity at 5-star, damage resistance for entire team
